Though if you want to visit along with your family you need to be planned and prepared and should be very cautious. You and your family must take strict precautions.
Precautions:
As you move towards the hill or high altitudes it results in sickness due to low oxygen levels. If our body is not getting the amount of oxygen that our body requires then it results in sickness, sickness in the sense of headache, fatigue, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, shortage of breath, vomitings need to treat them in time. These symptoms can be seen in any age group depending on the oxygen levels in the body and in the air. If you feel very uneasy in the stay of first two days gradually you’ll be able to settle to weather conditions.
If people with medical history like blood pressure, weak heart(heart patient) have any mountain sickness They must take them to a doctor. It is mandatory to consult at that time. Sometimes you can’t even realize the symptoms. Asthma patients must be very careful because of this acute mountain sickness. It is common and mild altitude sickness.
Renting Vehicles For a Road Trip:
You can transport your vehicles to Leh Ladakh but there are some pros and cons. You can have a road trip on your favourite vehicle. If you had a plan to transport a vehicle to Leh Ladakh then you transport the vehicle before 2 months prior. You can transport via train or roadways. You need to book a ticket for a vehicle if you want to start the trip to Manali transport your bike to Chandigarh, if you want to start from Srinagar transport your vehicle to Jammu Kashmir.
There are no stations to leh you need to choose the nearest ways to transport bikes. Also, you can rent bikes or other vehicles by reaching Manali, Srinagar where you can rent. and you can start your trip to Leh Ladakh. But rented bikes have mostly breakdowns in the middle of the trip. And You need to pay a huge amount while returning the breakdown bikes.
Things to carry:
Let’s have an overview of things you must carry to travel to Leh Ladakh. Desired Documents, Identity Proofs, Woollen clothes, Torchlight, medicines, water bottle, Spare batteries, At Least two pairs of shoes, Instant food, Better carry small Oxygen cylinders, Accessories for hiking, trekking like thermals, gloves, socks, mufflers etc…..A BSNL sim card to have connections with people would be just in case of emergencies. If you are travelling on a bike carry some extra fuel for your bike.
From Manali to Leh it is about 437 km to travel. Back in the day, there was no availability of any fuel there. But now, you can have fuel stations every few distances. Even now roads are getting smoother to travel. foremost thing is to know your vehicle fuel tank capacity. It is better to carry a spare bottle of fuel along with you. Whenever you’re refilling the tank better make it tank full. Try to carry at least 3 bottles according to your tank capacity.
If you’re planning to visit in January to March then it’s the wintertime. At that tie, the temperature will be -20 degrees. At this time Pangong lake and moriri completely will be frozen. Trek to Pangong lake is not allowed during this time. The guesthouse is available if you didn’t find any due to weather conditions then you should return to Leh for a stay. Availability of water is also difficult so better book a room with the pan before itself.
In April all the gates will be open and snowfall stops as summer starts. You can reach Ladakh only through Srinagar only those gates will be opened. April weather is also not good to visit As it is still cold and frozen.
In May All the accommodations will be working and opened. Srinagar way will be completely opened. The trip will depend on the road conditions.
