Here we are sharing a list of resources that can be helpful for you to get free furniture’s and free furniture vouchers for low income families
PAY ATTENTION TO ITEMS ON THE SIDEWALK
If you drive through your neighborhood, chances are you’ll come across some large items on the sidewalk that people throw away. On any given day, I usually see bikes, big toys, and sofas sitting there to go in the trash.
Most of the time, those people won’t mind if you take what they’re throwing away. In fact, sometimes you will see a free sign on the item. If you are not sure, you can ring the bell and ask.
CHECK THE NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE THE GARBAGE TRUCKS ARRIVE
Some people don’t throw their garbage away until the early hours of the morning before the garbage truck arrives. You may want to wake up a few hours before the truck is due to pass through your neighborhood to see if someone is throwing your furniture away.
DUMPSTER DIVE
Of course, there is always dumpster diving! It’s not glamorous, but you might be lucky enough to find smaller pieces of furniture, like lamps or end tables, in someone’s trash can.
However, this method can be a bit tricky as you have to make sure that you are not breaking any laws. Some localities have strict rules against dumping through people’s garbage. So before you do, call your local government office to find out the rules.
GATHER YOUR FRIENDS TO ORDER
Gather a few of your friends who are interested in doing a clutter purge of the house. Have everyone put their unwanted items in your garage or outside and take turns visiting each other’s homes. You might end up with some furniture you need from your friends to stir the sprees!
PARTICIPATE IN CONTESTS OR SWEEPSTAKES
I regularly enter blog giveaways and know many other people who do as well. There are all kinds of prizes you can win, from children’s toys to clothes, to guessing furniture! Furniture is really rare for a prize because it takes a lot of money to ship furniture somewhere. Still, I’ve seen mattresses, beds, and recliners as prizes before.
EARN GIFT CARDS ONLINE
Are you a member of any reward sites? Rewards or payment (GPT) sites are great for earning gift cards that you can use to buy furniture. I love Inbox because it’s easy to earn points to redeem for gift cards and there are so many card options. You can also check out this list of GPT sites that pay with PayPal in cash so you can use your money anywhere!
EBAY
Some eBay sellers use eBay as an online garage sale to get rid of some larger items for free for local people who are willing to pick them up. You may get lucky and find one of these listings near you by searching for the type of item you need. On the left side, you can narrow down the listings to locals searching for items within a certain distance of your zip code.
SCOURING THE WEB FOR GIFTS
Check out these online coupon sites that can help you save money at your favorite online retailers. You may even find some great discounts that, when combined with your store or credit card discounts, get you some free furniture!
DON’T FORGET FREE GIFTS
Sometimes you can find more specialized gifts online beyond searching generic coupon sites. Look for gifts that relate to your personal situation. For example, gifts for parents, gifts for college students, and gifts for single parents may lead to different results that are more applicable to your situation.
BUY NOTHING GROUPS
There are actually groups known as Buy Nothing groups. There are local groups all over the place, so you may have one near where you live. You can search the Buy Nothing website and find one near you. They usually have a Facebook group that you will need to join that allows you to find free stuff from other members or sometimes with a trade involved.
STORE CASH COUPONS
If you have credit cards or rewards cards for some stores that offer cash back on purchases, take advantage of them! For example, I have a Kohls credit card that not only gives me special discounts, but also allows me to accumulate a few reward dollars to further discount my purchases.
Also, Kohls sometimes has Kohls Cash deals where you can get something like $20 for every $40 spent. Other stores, like Target and Office Depot, have their own rewards programs that allow you to collect points or gift cards when you shop. Save your rewards and use them for your furniture!
BOGO COUPONS
BOGO coupons don’t usually come with furniture purchases, but they are occasionally available. Be sure to sign up for emails from your favorite online furniture stores so you can get alerts when new coupons and deals are available.
CRAIGSLIST
Craigslist is an amazing online classifieds site that allows you to find just about anything you want to buy locally. But, every area on Craigslist also has a free section where you can find local gifts. Larger cities typically have more free listings than smaller towns, but you can search as far away as you’re comfortable to travel and find some free furniture.
KIJIJI
Kijiji is almost like a Craigslist for Canada. You can post and search ads for free, so if you live in Canada, this can be a great site to find some local furniture for free.
GEEBO
Geebo is a site similar to Craigslist that also has a free section. It’s not as active as Craigslist, but it’s still a good option to keep as a backup.
BACK PAGE
Backpage is another simple classifieds site for finding free stuff in the United States. Look at the listings closest to you and choose the Free section there. Take a look at this list of sites like Craigslist to find similar sites to search for free furniture.
TURN OFF FEELERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Sometimes all it takes to find what you need is to send a couple of messages on social media. I recently tweeted my followers asking for book recommendations and immediately received a ton of responses. Things work fast on social media! Post a status on Facebook, tweet on Twitter, or add a photo to your Instagram showing the furniture you’re looking for. You can find someone who can help you in a matter of minutes!.
